MISSION: SUSTAINABLE
The first ECO DESIGN TALK in Austria
Three creative industries companies that couldn't be more different get together and put on a successful event with renowned speakers and lots of visitors? That's only possible with C hoch 3 creative industries coaching. Communication expert Anne-Liese Prem, designer Suse Mayer and event professional Tom Höll combined their talents in the C hoch 3 Salzburg 2017/2018 round and created a new highlight for design enthusiasts with their ECO DESIGN TALK.

"The success of our event surprised not only our business partners and friends, but most of all ourselves, because at first glance the three of us couldn't be more different," says Anne-Liese Prem, responsible for marketing and communications at the first ECO DESIGN TALKS on May 17, 2018 in Salzburg. "But it is precisely because we come from very different backgrounds and bring different talents with us that we complemented each other so perfectly," explains the PR specialist from Salzburg. At the start of the C hoch 3 cooperation project, she first worked as a duo with Suse Mayer, designer with professional experience in Vienna, on the idea for an ECO DESIGN CONFERENCE with several speakers and lecture formats. Suse Mayer, curator of the event: "The topic of sustainability has occupied both of us for a long time and I wanted to bring the Design Days to Salzburg a few years ago. The combination of both topics for Salzburg as a Green City made spontaneous sense for both of us."
From the big idea to the real event
During the C to the power of 3 sessions, the two used the Business Model Canvas and feedback from the group to develop an initial plan for an extensive event with several hundred visitors. "It was very helpful to keep presenting to the group during the conception phase and to incorporate input from the other participants and external visitors from the Innovation Service for Salzburg (ITG) and Kreativwirtschaft Austria. Above all, the critical voices helped us to sharpen the profile for the event. In addition, there was the valuable tip from the C hoch 3 coaches: "Keep it small and simple!" Instead of overextending ourselves with a large conference and failing right at the start, the experts advised a smaller kick-off event. "This made our tasks more manageable and the project still interesting in the long run. And if something is allowed to grow organically, then it has more future potential," says Anne-Liese Prem.

Making two into three: Now we're taking off
When one of the other Choch3 co-op projects dissolved, event manager and filmmaker Tom Höll finally joined the ECO DESIGN TEAM. His know-how in the field of start-ups gave the group new impetus to approach the project: "You have to do very precise groundwork for an event, because you can't miss the visitors' expectations," says the internationally experienced marketing professional. The newly formed team of three worked through the Business Model Canvas in detail and comprehensively in several private sessions in addition to the C hoch 3 training. The result: a solid strategy and a list of measures that enabled a realistic implementation of the project with concrete sub-steps and timings. Anne-Liese Prem: "I learned a lot from the other two team members during this phase: previously, I was a lone fighter and had already figured out my methods for projects. Now I've seen that things can be done differently and, above all, even better together."
A stylish location, cool drinks and over 90 visitors
The joint network of contacts in Salzburg and beyond to Vienna and Switzerland enabled the team to get the event off the ground in the following three months: An attractive location in the Panzerhalle in Salzburg and prominent speakers were quickly organized and, on the basis of the precise business plan, well-known sponsors were also convinced. Suse Mayer: "Then things started to happen in quick succession: Our conscientious research and preparation in the course of the C-high 3 training enabled us to work through one point after another quickly. Each of us took on specifically defined tasks according to our area of expertise."
Together they brought the event over the finish line: The team was able to welcome almost twice as many visitors as the planned 50 in the Panzerhalle. "Without C hoch 3, the three of us would not have come together and such an event would not have happened at all. If you're a creative industries company that wants to venture into something new and push into other areas, I can only recommend this kind of networking," says Tom Höll. The positive feedback on the ECO DESIGN TALK calls for a continuation - whether as a conference or as a series of talks is something the three are still thinking about. To be continued...

Digital work is possible everywhere. In the city and in the country. What is missing, especially in rural areas, is exchange. One reason why Herwig Zöttl and Nikola Weiser translated coworking into Tyrolean. This is how Raum13 was created in the course of the Creative Industries Coaching Tyrol: a flexible workplace, an inspiring meeting place for creative people and - in the sense of coworking - recently a destination for digital nomads.

The C hoch 3 Creative Industries Coaching is intended to offer creative professionals the opportunity to learn from one another, to further develop their business models, and to enter into professional cooperations.
