buntherum - Give a piece of Carinthia
Ever heard of Furoshiki? The Japanese art of wrapping cloth is still almost unknown in our country. At the C hoch 3 Kreativwirtschaftscoaching in Carinthia 2017, a four-person creative team recognized the potential of this idea and developed a wraparound cloth as an all-rounder with buntherum. An exciting C hoch 3 idea, as we think, which can actually only come about when different talents collide to develop an innovative business model together. Cooperation that pays off!

Bundling of creative know-how
From the very first meeting, it was clear to the C hoch 3 team that a haptic product with sense, charm and a regional reference to Carinthia should be created. An Internet search finally led to the Japanese binding techniques, and from then on it was only a matter of using the different strengths. The logo and the media preparation were created by graphic designer Karen Goepel, the textile products by tailor Christiane Jöri and the storytelling was done by designer Maribel Dorfer.
Finally, the concentrated creative female power lured the sociable IT specialist Markus Zametter into the team: "For me it was a very interesting experience to see such an idea grow from the very beginning and to see myself develop further in the process". The successful start of buntherum is certainly due not only to the innovative idea but also to the very harmonious cooperation within the project group. "Our different entrepreneurial horizons of experience and the resulting diversity of perspectives, motivations and perspectives have mutually enriched us in all phases of the collaboration," adds Karen Goepel.
Competent advice in creative industry coaching
"Together we have created a project of the heart, but one that should also be successful in the business world," says Christiane Jöri. Through the optimal support of the experienced C hoch 3 coaches in Carinthia, Marie-Theres Zirm and Paul Sintinger, the team got to know many practical tools and methods for entrepreneurship and used the "Business Model Canvas", for example. "By means of scene work, we also developed solutions for the challenges and obstacles in everyday business life. Topics such as cold calling and customer complaints were alluded to," recalls Jöri. The four are proud of the result of the cooperation project: the Buntherum scarf, which is definitely more than a simple accessory.
A cloth with many applications
A buntherum scarf is more than a sustainable gift wrapping, which is produced regionally. With the knowledge of binding techniques, the scarves can be reused to make practical bags, trendy fashion accessories or home decoration. In order to counteract the creation of waste in a double sense, the focus in the production of the wipes shifted to fabric remnants. "Along with the fabrics we collected from our circle of friends, stories about these fabrics and thus further ideas came to life," says Maribel, who studied scenography. As the conclusion of the C hoch 3 project, the Carinthian C hoch 3 team therefore organised a furoshiki workshop, at which the first buntherum cloths were sold.

Colourful into the future
buntherum has now unfolded in the truest sense of the word. Originally one cloth has been turned into an entire "recycling collection", which, in addition to Maribel Dorfer's self-designed bread towels, is now not only available online, but also on the counter in many shops in Carinthia and Graz. Further collections, including very special baby blankets, are currently in the development phase. Maribel Dorfer: "C hoch 3 was a motivational kick for me - out of the home office and problem thinking and into doing things together, bundling knowledge and ideas and networking with ingenious people. The exchange among the four "buntis" is still very active," she says.

Digital work is possible everywhere. In the city and in the country. What is missing, especially in rural areas, is exchange. One reason why Herwig Zöttl and Nikola Weiser translated coworking into Tyrolean. This is how Raum13 was created in the course of the Creative Industries Coaching Tyrol: a flexible workplace, an inspiring meeting place for creative people and - in the sense of coworking - recently a destination for digital nomads.
