New European Bauhaus

The new Bauhaus initiative aims to create attractive, sustainable and inclusive places, products and lifestyles in the EU. It adds a cultural and creative dimension to the Green Deal, helping to make innovation and the economy more sustainable.

A very exciting initiative with great potential for the creative industries is the "New European Bauhaus". It serves to promote a new way of life in which sustainability is combined with style, thus encouraging ecological transition in various sectors of our economy, such as construction and furniture as well as fashion, in our societies and in other areas of our daily lives. The new European Bauhaus aims to break down "silos" and build bridges between viewpoints and professions. Culture and technology, innovation and design, engineering and crafts, art and science, working hand in hand, can create a better world of tomorrow. Three core values are linked together in the process:

  1. Sustainability, from climate goals to circular economy, freedom from pollutants and biodiversity,
  2. Aesthetics, quality of experience and style, beyond functionality,
  3. Inclusion, valuing diversity, equality for all, accessibility and affordability....

In a participatory process, the initiative has been met with enthusiasm over the past six months; thousands of ideas have been submitted, forming the basis for the development and implementation of the vision at a wide variety of EU levels. The new phase will now start with the establishment and implementation of Bauhaus pilot projects supported by specific calls for proposals.
