Vienna stories from the eyes of a designer
All it takes is a bike ride through Vienna and an idea is born. Vienna books are nothing new, but what happens when you give an artist free rein while strolling through the capital with a small notebook in her luggage? The result is a masterpiece of stories that are worth seeing - literally.
What could be more fitting for the story of the month than an actual storybook? And how can you enhance stories with creative work and make them unique?
All it takes is a bike ride through Vienna and an idea is born. Vienna books are nothing new, but what happens when you give an artist free rein while strolling through the capital with a small notebook in her luggage? The result is a masterpiece of stories that are worth seeing - literally.
Sandra Mosch, a graduate artist and industrial designer, has made it her passion to bring her sketches of impressions of Vienna to life. It started with bike rides and walks through the city center, which she visualized in her notebook. She then reworked the ideas and drawings, digitized them and turned them into graphic products. To go with the sketches, she wrote stories about Vienna after a lot of research that still make even Viennese:ins sit up and take notice. Did you know, for example, that the roof tiles of our beloved St. Stephen's Cathedral were laid independently by a woman in the Middle Ages, because the men complained about the height back then?
But this approach is nothing new for Ms. Mosch. Before the industrial designer develops logos and infographics for her customers, the first thing she does is sketch out ideas in her notebook. She has been designing logos, corporate design and websites for companies from industry, medicine, sports, fashion, art, business, electrical engineering and the environment in her graphic and industrial design studio "MoschDesignWien" in the 6th district for 25 years.
Her new book "Vienna Stories: drawn and told by Sandra Mosch", is special in that it is not only a one-stop shop from A to Z, but also because with the help of the creative industries you can make a Vienna guide individual, appealing and personal. The small, stylized pictograms at the head of the articles were specially developed by Ms. Mosch and give the storybook a personal and unique look, which, as described by the artist, goes down particularly well with your readers.
The short stories are brought to life by Ms. Mosch and invite readers to take a walk through beautiful Vienna.
