Review Pixel, Bytes + Film 2024
On March 5, the second part of the Pixel, Bytes + Film supporting program took place in the Mediathek. Several scholarship holders were present to take part in the various lectures and expand their knowledge. Kreativwirtschaft Austria was able to support the organization and invite some of its experts.
What is pixels, bytes and film?
The BMKÖS funding program Pixel, Bytes + Film supports artists in developing and implementing new forms of audiovisual expression beyond conventional formats. For over 10 years, the program has been responding to the increased interest in artistic innovation in the digital realm.
The program is carried out in cooperation with ORF III Kultur und Information and includes project funding for interdisciplinary and transmedia projects in a digital and virtual context. Further training measures and professional networking opportunities are also offered.
The finished works will be presented on linear television on ORF III as part of the Artist in Residence program and then made available on ORF-TVthek. Further exploitation options will be developed individually to increase the visibility of the works.
All information and submission deadlines can be found here.
A day with pixels, bytes and filmÂ
On March 5, the second part of the Pixel, Bytes + Film supporting program took place from 10:00 - 16:00 at the Austrian Media Library. The speakers of the day dealt with topics such as entrepreneurship in the film industry, social media, marketing, positioning and copyright / contract law.
Marion Rossmann gave an informative overview of the FAMA professional association for the film and music industry. Although most of the scholarship holders are also involved in media art, there was great interest in the social benefits of an umbrella organization in Austria. The brochure "Top 3 tips for success for one-person companies" was also handed out so that they always have a contact point with the right addresses with them.
The presentation on (online) self-positioning and self-marketing dealt, among other things, with the presentation of complex works of art on social media. These were viewed critically, as they often cannot be presented appropriately. Mr. Oswald's personal and powerful presentation emphasized the importance of preparation and self-confidence.
Kai Erenli's presentation on copyright, patents and artificial intelligence in art was particularly successful and met with great interest. The practical information and tools he provided were much appreciated.
At the end of the day, there was also a guided tour of the Austrian media library, which rounded off the day nicely.
We are very pleased that the Pixel, Bytes + Film program promotes the development and implementation of new, decidedly interdisciplinary and transmedia audiovisual formats in the digital and virtual context and that we as KAT were able to support this!
