Art created on site: Lana Lauren translates ideas into pictures
Imagine you are at a conference and listening to an exciting presentation. Someone next to you starts drawing - not just notes, but complex illustrations that bring the content to life. That's graphic recording! Instead of just taking notes, our Creative of the Month, Lana Lauren, transforms ideas, discussions and presentations into visual stories.

Graphic recording is much more than just "pretty drawings". It is about presenting content concisely and visualizing emotions and contexts at the same time. Lana Lauren has perfected this art. She uses text, symbols and colors to create images that not only summarize the content, but also make it more understandable and memorable for everyone.
The visual storyteller
But how did you get into graphic recording in the first place? For Lana, it all started with the workshops and seminars that she held herself and documented visually. This resulted in colorful flipchart protocols that were very well received by her participants. Her fellow trainers also became curious and kept asking: "How do you do that?" Lana soon began giving workshops on flipchart design for colleagues and, at the request of clients, recording presentations and panel discussions not only at her own courses but also at larger events - the first "graphic recording", even before she knew it was called that!
In over ten years, Lana has worked for countless companies. But every drawing remains unique, because Lana sees graphic recording as a language that is constantly evolving. She loves to adapt and translate the essence of messages visually - sometimes with bold colors, sometimes with soft tones, depending on what the event or topic requires.
Before the event is after the event
Anyone who thinks Lana simply turns up at events with pen and paper and starts drawing is completely wrong. Not only because the majority of graphic recordings are no longer analog but digital, but also because - as with every successful event - the "before" and "after" phases are also part of the overall concept for Lana. Lana attaches particular importance to thorough preparation, i.e. familiarization with the respective theme and the client's corporate design. In addition, depending on the event, well thought-out templates for group work, appealing designs for presentations and interactive tools are sometimes used to create a clear structure in advance that gives participants orientation and motivation.
As soon as the event begins, Lana unleashes her full potential: Whether analog (with paper), digital (on a tablet) or remote (via digital connection at online events) - her live graphic recording transforms the event in real time into vivid images and interactive formats that incorporate the ideas of the participants. A special highlight are her postcards, which can be printed live on site with the resulting graphic recording images to give to guests as a souvenir.
After the event, Lana ensures that the content resonates for a long time. With summarizing posters, one-pagers, booklets or short video summaries, she makes the most important points accessible in the long term - perfect for keeping the memory of the event alive and passing on knowledge.
Knowledge is there to be shared
Lana Lauren has developed a new course that is both entertaining and practical for anyone who wants to present their ideas clearly and vividly. With a mixture of 26 clear learning videos and practical exercises, she introduces beginners to the art of flipchart design step by step.
Why flipcharts? If you use the flipchart cleverly, you can bring dry facts to life and really engage your audience. In four modules, participants learn everything they need to know: from the choice of materials and font design to the creation of structures and simple, effective image techniques. The course is packed with entertaining content and specially designed for beginners. "I can't draw" and "my handwriting is a disaster" will quickly turn into "Oh, wow! I can do that too!".
Say it in pictures!
With her huge range of tools and wealth of experience, Lana has become a master of holistic graphic recording. Whether live on site, digital or hybrid - she finds the right format for every event and transforms words into lasting visual experiences. "Graphic recording helps to understand and remember complex content and appeals not only to the brain but also to the emotions. It is a language that connects," says Lana, and it is precisely this connection that she brings to life in all her projects.
If you are looking for someone to translate your words into pictures for your next project or you would like to expand your own knowledge with one of her courses , then write to Lana! She looks forward to getting to know you.
