Creative Industries Policy
Data sheet 2018
The creative industries continue on the road to success
The creative industries are growing in terms of employment, turnover and value creation and thus continue to be on the road to success. In 2016, about 11 % of all companies in Austria belong to the creative industries, i.e. about 42,300 companies with 153,000 employees. Creative enterprises generate revenues in the amount of about € 22 billion as well as a gross value added at factor cost of almost € 9.1 billion. Creative enterprises have developed positively both in the short term (2015 to 2016) and in the long term (2008 to 2016), with increases in the creative industries between 2008 and 2016 in the areas of employment (+16 %) and turnover (+21 %) being higher than in the Austrian economy as a whole (employment: +7 %, turnover: +8 %). Creative enterprises are getting bigger: Employment, turnover and gross value added are growing to a greater extent than the number of enterprises.
