DESIGN AB HOF: Where agriculture meets the creative industries

Can agriculture and the creative industries go hand in hand? The answer is YES and Karin Heschl-Polzhofer shows us how. She originally started her career studying art history and journalism and communication sciences. After years of experience in marketing and design mediation, she took over her family's farm with the aim of keeping it active. From the combination of passion and expertise, an idea saw the light of day: DESIGN AB HOF.

DESIGN AB HOF is not only a farm store for quality-conscious consumers, but also a place where people come together to exchange ideas and be inspired. The farm store acts as a meeting place for creatives and farmers alike to learn from each other and explore new ways of working together.

From fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables to handmade design products from the local creative scene, the farm store offers a wide selection of high-quality and unique products. Visitors are also encouraged to discover the variety and quality of the products and be inspired by the creative atmosphere of the farm store.

Karin not only stocks products and food that make you happy, but also organizes a varied programme of memorable events and workshops during the seasonal opening hours.

Thanks to the vision of this dedicated Styrian, DESIGN AB HOF has developed into a unique and inviting place where the beauty of agriculture meets the creativity of the design scene. But we don't want to give too much away, it's best to visit for yourself and form your own opinion.

Your DESIGN AB HOF

 

The farm store will reopen from November 9 to 30, 2024, but before that there is an exciting call in which you can participate now.  

As part of its commitment to promoting the local creative industries, designers are regularly invited to submit their suggestions for the DESIGN AB HOF product range. A CALL is currently being made for consumer goods with high design standards that would complement the DESIGN AB HOF range in the run-up to Christmas. The current product range of the farm store consists of agricultural products (juices, honey, jams, tea, brandies, etc.) and selected design products (home and kitchen accessories, ceramics, baskets, textiles, jewelry, art objects, etc.). What connects the products? They are not available on every corner, they all tell their own special story and the people behind them have put a lot of heart and soul and high quality standards into their creation and production.

 

The following criteria must be met as part of the CALL:

• DESIGN APPROACH: Consumer goods with high design standards;
• AVAILABILITY: Availability and availability for November;
• QUALITY CLAIM: High quality and durable;
• INNOVATION CONTENT: New, innovative products with high usability;  
• SUSTAINABILITY: Sustainable materials, ecological manufacturing processes;
