Climate Biennale Vienna
9.4. – 10.5. | Vienna
The Vienna Climate Biennale returns from April 9 to May 10, 2026 returns with its second edition as an interdisciplinary festival at the interface of art and climate. The focus is on the transformative potential of art: it opens up new ways of thinking, feeling and acting in the climate crisis and provides strong impetus for climate justice and a future worth living for all. Following the great success of the first Biennale with over 225,000 visitors and more than 100 partner institutions, the movement continues to grow and once again makes visible how cultural practice can accelerate social change.
The Biofabrique Vienna pilot project launched by the Vienna Business Agency in 2024 brings together the creative industries, research and industry to develop new materials for design and architecture from unused local resources. The results are presented in the Nordwestbahn area and serve as living proof that the circular economy is not only ecologically necessary, but also inspiring in terms of design. In the fall, Biofabrique will also be in the spotlight at Vienna Design Week, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
At the same time, the award-winning projects from Creatives for Vienna – Making Spaces show what climate-resilient and revitalized urban spaces in Vienna can look like: practical, playful and with tangible added value for the quality of life. One example is a mini-golf course that makes urban development and sustainability tangible, an invitation to see the city as a shared design space. Together with Biofabrique, the Climate Biennale thus spans the spectrum from artistic vision to urban implementation and shows how climate transformation can be initiated creatively, concretely and collaboratively.
