A single red line loops and curves smoothly on a light gray background, forming a large loop near the center before continuing off the right edge.
A hand - perhaps that of a master or apprentice - lifts a piece of woven fabric with frayed edges from a small wooden loom attached to a white wall. The fabric has a subtle decorative pattern.

Master and Apprentice

The exhibition opens up a multi-layered view of Lithuanian design as a living practice that focuses less on finished objects and more on the relationships behind them: Exchange, mentoring, shared knowledge. Designers from different generations and disciplines enter into a dialog between academic reflection and professional practice, between craftsmanship and contemporary interpretation. The hidden networks from which design emerges and identity grows become visible.

Selected works from the fields of objects, fashion, furniture and light make these processes tangible and shift the focus from individual authorship to community and collective development. Traditional materials meet speculative approaches, nature meets technology. This creates a field of tension in which design appears as an open, relational and ongoing practice.

The opening at designforum Wien will take place on February 19, 2026 at 6:30 pm. Guided tours with the curators will be offered as part of the opening.
